*sigh*This was a bad idea from the beginning. None of us admins are interested in the site anymore, and I already know its been unoffically closed for a while now. But just for the heck of it...THIS RPG IS CLOSEDI am eminently sad that it went down before it could ever begin, but Yaka and Kit are MIA, I'm too busy to give it any time and Kallen is... well, she's Kallen. :PSee ya 'round~

Nick "Voltage" Cassidy Empty
PostSubject: Nick "Voltage" Cassidy   Nick "Voltage" Cassidy EmptyWed Oct 07, 2009 11:25 am

Name: Nick Cassidy
Current Alias: Voltage

Aliases: Old Man Cassidy, Lightning Man, The Shocking Superhero, The Veteran

Age: 65
DOB: [06/28/1944]

Gender: Male

Identity: Secret

Alignment: Good

Race: Metahuman

Affiliation: Crimson Vindicate

Base of Operations: Americannia

Citizenship: Americannian

Occupation: Full-time Superhero, Formerly: Electrician, Soldier

Education: University Graduate with Highest Honors

Place of Birth: Americannia (back then it was known as the United States of America)

Appearance/Clothing:

Spoiler:

Nick is an African-Americannian. He has a small beard and curly, messy black hair. His hair show signs of greyness, but still not to such an extent. As Voltage, he has a small amount of wrinkles on his dark skin from old age, though they're mostly unnoticable. He wears a long-sleeved blue raincoat, yellow from the inside. This is over a half-sleeved skin-tight black shirt with a yellow lightning-bolt symbol on the front and wears fingerless gloves below his elbows (though they are covered by his coat and only appear wrist-down).

His lower body consists of black jeans with blue pockets and a golden box-design emerging from his knees, a yellow belt with metal compartments to keep things in, and calf-high blue army boots with yellow strap-ons.

Personality:

Nick, due to his long-term experience in the Superhero/Metahuman business, is usually depicted as being calm and clear headed even in very dangerous situations. Due to this he rarely acts on impulse and usually thinks things through before going with them and is always trying to stay one step ahead of everyone else. Still he possesses a serious sense when it comes to protecting his allies at all costs. He also values the bonds he has with his friends and family. He has a great sense of humor and often uses it to tease others.

He is a highly gifted individual with a particular interest in the sciences. He is very intelligent and very good at engineering and electronics. He is a talented inventor and a natural strategist. His main strength is his old age; which not only provides him with experience in the battle field but also causes his opponent's to underestimate him. They don't realize though, that the shocking superhero is only in his Prime.

Due to his long history and his generally being among the earliest Metahumans around, Voltage is well-respected, both among the ranks of the Crimson Vindicate and among the Americannian Army, despite being their enemy.

Powers:

Super-Conductive Electromagnetism: Voltage's body can generate Raw Electromagnetic Energy, which he has learned to manipulate, control, to sense sources of electromagnetic energy, electricity and magnetism and administer as a range of attacks with a range of uses; he can charge devices with electricity, and alternatively drain the energy from them into himself, magnetize and demagnetize metals. Voltage can hear Radiowaves meaning he can listen in on the police broadband and music stations, as well as tapping into the phone lines so he can make calls. Nick/Voltage can choose to keep the electromagnetic energy that he currently holds in his body by controlling the Current and Voltage for whenever he wants to use it.

  • Electromagnetic Force Bolts: Voltage can fire Bursts of electromagnetic energy from his hands for uses like electrifying objects, administering large scale static-clings, generating shields and barriers and with a piece of wire he can generate a Nova-Burst.
  • Electromagnetic Fields: Voltage generates an Electromagnetic field just like the earth & the sun generate their own Electromagnetic fields.
  • Electromagnetic Levitation: Voltage can cause objects to fly (metal is the easiest material to manipulate and wood is the most difficult.)
  • Static Cling: Voltage can adhere most objects/people/Metahumans to surfaces and other objects, plus Charge can magnetize surfaces.
  • Taser Punch: An electrified punch administered during combat to send opponents flying, similar effects to a Taser Gun.
  • Electromagnetic Displays: Electromagnetic Light Displays that Voltage can shoot into the sky in the forms of pictures and words. With more power behind it, Voltage can make these into Electromagnetic Nets &/or Cage.
  • Electromagnetic Shields and Barriers: Shields and barriers that Voltage can generate with Electromagnetism to block, repel, hold back attacks and defend himself in battle.
  • Ball Lightning: Named after Ball Lightning, the weather phenomenon. Electromagnetic Energy compressed into a large ball & thrown at targets; an offensive maneuver in a combat situation.
  • Nova Burst: An attack of light & electromagnetic force run through some normal wire, to blind targets for a short while.
  • Electromagnetic Pulse: Knocking out all local electrical devices.

Equipment:

Early in his superhero career, Voltage flew using everyday metal objects like garbage can lids. Now, he flies on a hover disc of his own design and construction. The disc consists of eight, interlocking plates that, when not in use, are folded up like the sections of a Chinese folding fan. This makes it easy for Nick to hide the disc in his duffel bag. When he goes into action as Voltage, Nick gives the sections of the disc the same magnetic charge so they unfold via magnetic repulsion and lock into place to form a three-foot wide circular platform. When Voltage gives the sections opposing charges, the disc folds back into its compact size via magnetic attraction.

Voltage propels the hover disc with imbalances in a self-generated electromagnetic field while steering is simply a matter of shifting his weight and position. He can also fly the hover disc over a distance by using his electromagnetic influence.

Voltage uses his static cling on the soles of his feet so that he remains attached to the hover disc's surface even when he is flying upside down. It would take a major loss of concentration or intense electrostatic interference to break Voltage's bond with the disc.

History:

He's 65 years old, so prepare for a long ride.

Early Life

Nick Cassidy was born to Simon and Nora Cassidy during the Second World War. He lived as a refugee, moving from country to country for safety with his mother, as his father was a soldier in the army. He returned to America at the age of 2 after the War was well over with.

Nick grew up as your normal kid, getting wedgies and bullied upon every Tuesdays by the kids in the ghetto. He joined the army, following in his martyred father's footsteps, and quickly rose in ranks because of his bravery and selflessness on the battlefield.

Marriage and Powers

During his service in the Army, he fell in love and got married. The marriage was a successful one, Felicia and Nick Cassidy loved each other very much and had a son, Simon II, together. It was during this time, while on Boot Camp, that Nick was exposed to a mutagenic gas compound when the Camp was raided by a group of terrorists. Nick breathed in the gas and was then accidently exposed to an open wire, causing a "short circuit". Due to his exposure to the gas, instead of dying from the shock, Nick instead developed powers to generate and control electricity.

Voltage and Retirement

Taking upon the name "Voltage", he became one of the earliest superheroes around. Due to this, he gained several degrees of respect among the citizens of America, which still holds true today. However, he was soon to face the downsides of Herobiz. Unfortunately, in a crossfire between his who had found out his secret identity, his wife and son were killed. Blaming himself for their death, the superhero vanished, while Nick retired from the army.

Old Man Cassidy

"The name's not Cassidy, bub. . . it's Voltage."
--Nick Cassidy, while throwing a bolt for the first time in 40 years.

He became a simple electrician in a simple store, his powers helping him there to some extent. However, the crime rate soon skyrocketed after losing one of its greatest preventers, but Nick payed it no heed. 40 years went by, and soon Americannia was formed. The Darkdevil sought out the former hero and tried to convince him to join his side, but Nick refused entirely.

That night, Nick was walking through an alleyway of Neo York, thinking about his life, when he came across a woman being abused by Metahuman muggers. When he confronted them, they recognized him as 'Old Man Cassidy' from the Workshop and simply showed him their "Registered Badge", and told the Old Man that they could do whatever they wanted since they -were- the Police.

Finally realizing the wrong he had done, Voltage returned and shocked the muggers into next millenia with a simple electric bolt. He quickly sought out Darkdevil and joined the ranks of the Crimson Vindicate, quickly becoming among the Top 10 thanks to his years of experience and old-age-wisdom.

"The miracles of modern medicine; 65 is the new 30."
--In a comment about his old age.

He's currently in Africa, in hiding, having heard that the Darkdevil has risen again and waiting patiently for the time when Voltage will be needed.
